The story is based on an incident from March 9, 1963, Los Angeles Police Department officers Karl Hettinger, played by John Savage, and Ian Campbell, played by Ted Danson, pull over a car for making an illegal U turn and then find themselves held at gunpoint by two seasoned armed robbers. The two cops are then forced to give up their side arms and drive the car to a deserted road, both of these officers now face the terror of becoming helpless victims in a execution style homicide but only one may able to escape into the bleak darkness of an onion field.
